October  2008

Dear Fellow Saguntonians and Friends,

MABUHAY!

We are writing on behalf of Sagunto UK Association to tell you about the most important challenge we are taking on in Dec. 2008. The Association is organising the first “Balikbayans Grand Home Coming Reunion”.

The purpose of this event is to unify and strengthen the relationship of Saguntonian citizens who are working and living abroad. To reminisce experiences and events, encourage open communications and to become personally acquainted so that we can recognise one another wherever we are in the world -  this way we can freely exchange greetings and of course “tsismis”.

Invitation to this event is open to all Balikbayans who wish to reminisce with us. We are encouraging all the Balikbayans from other Barangays, especially our neighbouring Barangays to participate in this event.

The Sagunto UK Association believes that this event will be the beginning of a strong and lasting relationship for all Balikbayans. A way to show to our fellow Filipinos, foreign citizens and our children, who are living and working from home and aboard, the unique characteristics and unity that bond us Filipinos. We have a saying that says

“Ang hindi marunong tumingin sa pinangalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paruruonan”

This saying demonstrates and emphasises the respect, love and closeness we all have to our motherland that we always look back and acknowledge where we have come from. Because of this, the Filipino spirit is the envy of other nationalities. Hence, Sagunto UK Association is organising this event to celebrate this.

More importantly, the overriding aim of this event is to raise sufficient funds to improve and modernise the water conservation system and healthcare facilities. The water supply is at the mercy of seasons – particularly during the summer drought months. This has been the source of a great deal of concern and frustration amongst our Kabarangayans – especially when there has been no water supply to their houses. To ensure consistent and hygienic potable supply of water to our Barangay, the old water pipes are in dire need of replacement.

Basic sanitation and healthcare is a fundamental necessity for all Saguntonians. Unfortunately, at present we do not have adequate facilities, training or supplies to ensure our wellbeing. As a result, our inhabitants are constantly at risk from all manner of ailments: from the innocuous to the more serious and sometimes potentially fatal injuries or illnesses which require immediate medical attention or transportation to a hospital. A dedicated ambulance for Sagunto would be the most efficient and cost-effective solution to this dilemma.

Whilst we appreciate that demands on your time are considerable; it would be most welcome if you could support the Homecoming, both financially and with your time, to attend our event, which is on 28 Dec. 2008. To reinforce your support, we would also welcome your contribution in the Souvenir magazine.

For business subscribers, this is an opportunity to promote your business establishment and at the same time helping the Sagunto UK Association towards good cause.

With God’s help and guidance, we are confident that we can achieve our aim and make this event successful.

We would be most grateful for your support.

If you have any questions about our Homecoming event, please do not hesitate to contact us directly to discuss.

 GOD  BLESS.

Yours faithfully,
